Its no doubt that BMW produces the best cars in the world. It really is not a great time to be in the car business though. With all of the problems with the Big 3, everyone is nervous. As well as people expect more from their cars than ever with lower prices, its no wonder that profits are flat. At least there are profits though.

Don't believe everything you read. For all we know Bloom wrote the article because of interest in other car makes. The financial business is a very seedy one. With regard to BMW, I find it amazing they are number 1. We know a Lexus rides smoother, BMW Nav lacks compared to others, BMW's ride is harsher compared to others, BMW body designs are way out there compared to others, etc. Yet, the majority of car buyers prefer the BMW drive. So although they may sell 1.3 million cars, I don't think luxury when I buy BMW I think performance. So my point being is that BMW is the number 1 luxury car make however their buyers are performance not luxury oriented. Very few 6/7 series are sold compared to the 3 series which is not a luxury car. So I don't understand the article. It seems to be out of touch and does not acknowledge that BMW's only competitor is Audi. Either you want BMW or you want something else. But I have yet to find a car that comes close to a BMW. I am not talking 0-60 either. I am talking about the whole package from the steering wheel, to the performance, to the seats.

Biggest != Best. I don't care what the average drone buys. I want a driver's car.

That's wierd, I always thought Lexus was the #1 Luxury brand seller in the US thanks to the RX330 sales.
