When I first started planning my 335 ED, I was originally going to work with a CA that I had purchased two M3's from many years ago ('95 and '98) down at Camelback BMW. But it seemed every time I made contact with him since they moved up to North Scottsdale, he didn't have time to get back to me. Since I've been flying over to California every week, I decided to check out some of the L.A. dealers.
I ended up finding what I consider a great deal at one of those L.A. dealers--Ray (above) and I are using the same dealer and CA. You can PM either one of us for the contact info.
Obviously there is a real advantage to buying from a local dealer, especially when you have a long-running relationship with a particular CA. Everyone has to decide for themselves how much that convenience is worth. But in my case, by the time I figured the additional markup on ED invoice, the markup on Acq fee ($200), the markup on the MF for the lease, the difference of $388 doc fee versus $45, I decided it was worth it for me to order the car in California and either drive it or have it shipped back. In fact, if I've done my math correctly  , the total difference throughout the life of the lease is approaching $2K.
Again, everyone's situation is different, just thought I would share mine.

Thanks again for the contact info Rich. I got my conformation last week. One of my buddies that is going decided to order a car and pick it up with me (335 vert), so its looking like we will have 2 great cars to drive in Germany  . Thanks again for the contact info, and have a great ED trip.
