Phoenix ED Contacts
I'm looking for a contact at one of the Dealers in the Phoenix area, does anyone have someone they can recommend?
Thanks

Doc Fee in Scottsdale is $388, then AZ state TT&L, and no other dealer fees. However, the CA told me the BMWNA ordering screen for ED shows a $180 Training Fee, although he was not sure if the dealership actually got charged for it. Yes, I know for ED I'm not supposed to be charged a training fee and I've been pushing back on my CA. But at the end of the day if it shows up on my ED Invoice, what can I do?

| | Reply » Phoenix ED Contacts | In Calif. Doc Fees are limited to a max of $55 by law. I know that in some states, doc fees of $300-$500 are becoming commonplace. It's all pure dealer profit and the dealer does not pay the salesperson commission on the doc fee! The WSJ had an interesting article about this recently...

When I first started planning my 335 ED, I was originally going to work with a CA that I had purchased two M3's from many years ago ('95 and '98) down at Camelback BMW. But it seemed every time I made contact with him since they moved up to North Scottsdale, he didn't have time to get back to me. Since I've been flying over to California every week, I decided to check out some of the L.A. dealers.
I ended up finding what I consider a great deal at one of those L.A. dealers--Ray (above) and I are using the same dealer and CA. You can PM either one of us for the contact info.
Obviously there is a real advantage to buying from a local dealer, especially when you have a long-running relationship with a particular CA. Everyone has to decide for themselves how much that convenience is worth. But in my case, by the time I figured the additional markup on ED invoice, the markup on Acq fee ($200), the markup on the MF for the lease, the difference of $388 doc fee versus $45, I decided it was worth it for me to order the car in California and either drive it or have it shipped back. In fact, if I've done my math correctly , the total difference throughout the life of the lease is approaching $2K.
Again, everyone's situation is different, just thought I would share mine.

Rich | You probably already know this, but when buying a car in CA to drive to AZ for registering, the CA dealer can give you a Temp DriveAway registration that allows you to drive the car to AZ without registering it in CA (costs ~$25). However, you still need to pay CA sales tax.
