To All BMW Centers:
You may already have heard about a series of e-mails, which allege to have been sent by the BMW Security Department or the BMW Lottery Department located in Great Britain, the Netherlands or Canada. These e-mails inform the recipient that they have won a prize. Many of those e-mails depict BMW Group trademarks, thereby making them look authentic. Please be aware that this is a scam!
These communications do not originate with any BMW Group company, nor from any authorized company affiliated with BMW. After more than a year of investigation, BMW has determined that the vast majority of these e-mails are being sent from a server in Nigeria, which unfortunately is beyond our legal reach.
If a customer inquires about such an e-mail, please inform him that this is a scam and that he should not respond to it. You may also want to refer him to the bmwusa.com web site, which has a scam alert on the following page: http://www.bmwusa.com/Contact/securityscam.htm.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact customer.relations@bmwna.com. Thank you.
