Normally the model year changeover is September at the factory, which means the first new ones arrive in the USA in October. There have been plenty of exceptions where BMW has released the next year's models early.

The normal model year changeover is from September production. BMW also introduces significant changes at the half year point, from March production.
In the US, the half year introductions have been marketed as the next calendar year models, e.g 98 E39, and now the 08 E60. The E90, 3 series 08 models will be introduced from September 07 production.
