 ED crackdown on MACO

Guys, you'll be pleased to know that BMW ED has issued an update to all centers that they are not supposed to charge MACO on ED cars as these cars are exempt from MACO fee. If you don't know what MACO is, it's a market area cooperative within geographic markets that's billed by BMW to all of our wholesale values to help support dealers in marketing efforts.

Long story short, centers are not supposed to charge MACO fee. I've heard some of you mentioning that some centers note this in addition to their cost. I suspect that BMW has heard complaints regarding this and therefore asks centers to refrain from trying to charge this fee.

Hope this helps.

I'd like TACO's better.

Well if MACO WAS charged can it be refunded or otherwise used towards accessories, a partial deposit / larger down payment etc.?

No, it just goes to the profit fund for the center. If a center already charged you this, I think it would be futile to try to get that bump back.

Thanks, Adrian - you are a good man (or so I hear). Just to put things in perspective, how much does MACO amount to on a typical non-ED BMW?
