Do you think if I place the order now that I can have it ready to pickup in early May? I talked to my dealer briefly and he says I should order at least 2 months in advance, but I have thought people mentioned 3 months ahead? Is he being a little optimistic or am I just worried too much?
This will be my first ED (obvioiusly...), so do I tell him a date that I want or just ask him for the earliest day possible? How easy is it to change delivery dates?
Thanks all.

Thanks all. | You have plenty of time but get the ball rolling sometime in early March. Pick a date. Watch out for german holidays and the world cup commencing.

Call your dealer NOW.
I'm arranging for an ED for a 3 series and the first available date is the end of April according to my CA. That's what he told me yesterday anyway. When I did this a year ago I was in Munich 6 weeks after the first phone call...now it's looking like 8-9 weeks!

PLENTY of time. I am working with my dealer for a 5.11 pickup and their schedule does not even go out this far yet. At this point I am planning on faith. My CA is on top of it.

You ave plenty of time, but I wouldn't wait very long, as your order fits into your dealers normal allocation, and there may be the problem. IF they have a ton of orders, you may have problems or be hunting for another dealer.
I know that. technically, ED cars are not in the norma allocation, but from what I understand that your order takes an allocation spot, and then BMWUSA "credits" the dealer a new spot. Please correct me if my logic is wrong here.

Doable but don't waste too much time. For a May pick-up the car has to be produced in early April and the April allocations are released at the end of this month.
Your car needs to be manufactured 30-days in advance of your pick-up. Otherwise, you might have to go with a pool car.
