Leaving on 18th, Ramblings, Questions, and Anyone else picking up on 24th of Jan?

Greetings All You Rad Bunch of ED Fans......

So I'm about to depart on the 18th from SFO to Munich on United/Lufthansa. I return from Munich on the 26th. Ticket was purchased for $586.00 all included. I'm flying into Munich on the 18th and then heading to the train station to catch a ride to Prague. In Prague I'm meeting up with 3 college buddies who will be coming via train from Paris the same day. We plan on spending 2 days in Prague, then taking sleep cars overnight to Budapest. 2 Days in Budapest and then another sleeper car to Munich on the 23rd, Monday. Will probably do Priceline for hotels suggested here for Munich, while we are in Budapest. Tuesday or Wednesday evening ( can't remember ) we have a BMW factory tour scheduled and confimed in Munich ( Is this hte 3er plant?). I plan on picking up my 330i on Tuesday the 24th at the ED offices. If the deep freeze is over and the roads are clear, we'll make a short trip on the AutoBahn. If conditions are bad I'll just drive it over to Harms (sp?) and we'll walk/cab around Munich. I'm taking one small daypack and wearing many layers of clothing to avoid having to much stuff. Some long underwear, NorthFace Down Jacket and my Vasque Hiking Boots being my main defense against the cold. I'm taking my digital camera and laptop and will be posting pics as I get them. Need to find the iPASS WIFI Hotspots in Munich so I can get online. I'll make sure to sign the guest book upstairs.

My dealer said that floor mats are included in ED cars, is that true? Are they the same as the carpeted ones I bought for my 325i a couple years ago?

I'm going to remove the hazard Triangle and Flashlight and keep my front license plate correct? Take pics of the car and mileage before I sign off at Harms?

I'm really excited as I've always wanted a 330i. I'm looking to relocate to Los Angeles and work in the IT field if anyone has any leads ;-) Girlfriend has to finish Medical School at USC thus the move.

I welcome any suggestions folks have for my trip. We are 4 guys in our late 20's early 30's who love beer and having fun!

Far fewer iPass hotspots in Europe than in the States, primarily because iPass doesn't have a deal with T-Mobile. Re the mats, yes, it's true.

I think you might be overdoing the travelling light concept a bit. I travel frequently (95,000 km in the air in 2005) and I take one rollerboard and one medium sized Tumi briefcase, both carry-on.

No need to take flashlight. You only have to take what BMW cannot legally import (triangle and first aid kit). You should keep the front license plate as a souvenir.

Sounds like an advert for a movie...

Take the flashlight....mine disappeared between Germany and California.

Tumi? Vasque? Northface? Not too much brand-name dropping going on here. Well, according to my Titanium Omega Seamaster Chronometer it's time for sushi.

Yeah, I didn't even realize I was doing it, so conditioned as the consumer I am. Though I would say that Tumi, Vasque and Northface are kind of like Xerox is to photocopies.

Nice watch, I'm hoping for an Omega after I drop the large for a ring.

Well, at least the Omega isn't made in China. (DOH---neither is the car!)

Jonathan

- I was not aware that I get the BMW mats for free when doing ED....will they make it to the US when I pick up from my dealer or will they be removed...or should I take them out before dropping the car?

Please let me know...

Thank You.
