I am new to the forum but I have been doing a lot of reading of posts on the bimmerfest site over the past few weeks.
I am very interested in placing an order for a 330i for ED delivery.
I have the BMW Canada info and the dealer quote on Canadian ED and it appears you don't save much money - maybe Cdn $600 overall (based on MSRP) on a 330i ED delivery.
So, I think I have the details of the costs, but I am interested in hearing from any Canadians about the "process" of placing an order and the up-front deposit.
Has anyone gone through the process lately, and if so, what was your experience?
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

I did Canadian ED about 2 years ago. The only real savings are: 1. No car rental cost in Europe 2. Lower GST/PST on Canadian re-delivery because car is now "used"

Thanks. Any advice when dealing with the local dealer?

Not really. They were quite inflexible on pricing, and the dealer really only served as a conduit to BMW Canada. Things may be different now at the company-owned dealers like BMW Toronto.
Bottom line, it was a great experience and I plan to do it again, but there is really no financial justification. I've never really done a precise comparison, but if you did, you would have to consider the large up-front, advance payment, the redelivery time, and the fact that you can't save sales tax by netting a trade-in with your ED car.

Thanks for the info. I'm surprised by the comment about not netting the trade-in value for PST/GST. Do you know why this is the case?

But, with 15% PST/GST tax in Ontario, I would be very interested in finding out a way to net one against the other. Please post if you find out more on this.
