ED in June, 06
I am planning to take ED of a 325xi on June 23. It is not yet ordered but I just made my air reservations flying from Boston to Zurich. I will either rent a car in Zurich and drive to Munich or take the train. I will then drop my BMW off in Zurich for re-delivery. I did not know that WC soccer was taking place in Germany at that time. Can you rec a hotel near the delivery center in Munich for the night of 6/23? I plan to leave in the next day or two for Prague and then loop south to Austria, possibly northern Italy returing to Zurich for a 14 day trip. Any suggestions? I am new to this forum and don't quite understand how all the threads work. Thanks

You should make room reservations straight away. We just had an in-depth discussion about hotel rooms in German cities.
A lot of people here use Priceline and end up at the Marriot or Renaissance in Schwabing, which is close to the delivery center (you are 10 min away from the delivery center). The risk is that there is no assurance you'll get this hotel with Priceline.
I have stayed (for e.d.) at the Holiday Inn on the Leopoldstraße, also in Schwabing. I have seen it for as little as EUR 65,- per night but you have to check the ichotels.com Web site. Has a great self park garage.
Hard to post suggestions since we don´t know your interests but if you indicate what your interests are when travelling (museums, mountains, good restaurants), I´m sure you ´ll get a lot of feedback.

I'd recommend getting your order and delivery date in now. Someone in another post just did ED and the ED center mentioned that people better get their date requests in fast for that time period.
They're expecing heavy heavy volume during that time. They can only do about 25 deliveries/day. I see you're looking at a Friday too, so even busier for the Delivery Center.

 I'm taking pre-reservations for June and July already. The World Cup is really gonna make things crazy, so take all of our advice and start planning. Last year, BMW ED said it was super busy for them last summer and they expect it to be more busy this year.

Last November I stayed at the Mariott in Schwabing. It's main advantages is that it is cheap ($60E/night, $15E/night parking.. not cheap) and very close to the u-bahn (I think it is 1-2 stops to the BMW ED center). Rooms are nice, and they have a sports bar and nice (a little on the expensive side) resteraunt. Service as good, and staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.

The World Cup runs from June 9 to July 9 (last game in Munich is July 5.) I'd suggest booking your hotel ASAP as most are probably booked by World Cup tour groups and fans.
