Hello All - New Member
Hi all, After lurking on this site for some time, I have joined the forum. Great place. I'm doing ED with a 2/17 pickup and planning to stay in Europe for 10 days (arrive/leave thru Frankfurt). I was thinking about Munich, Salzburg, South Bavaria, and Heidelburg (sic) as destinations. I've read many internaries already, but I'm still open to suggestions. Worried somewhat about the weather. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, CVT Benhogan  | | Reply » Hello All - New Member | Maybe you can do the romatic road;head over the Innsbruck and then go to Salzburg. Also, Prague is only 250 miles from Munich;

United has a direct flight from O'Hare, but unfortunately with AA you will have to change planes in London or another city. Good luck!

CVT Benhogan | Looks like a reasonable itinerary. Not too ambitious, and will give you time to enjoy.
Not sure why you're going in/out of frankfurt. why not at least go into Munich? The flight will probably cost the same, or within a few dollars. You could always drop off and fly out of frankfurt, and going to/from different cities won't change the ticket price much.

The hassel of getting on the train and taking the 3-4hr trip was not worth the little bit of money I saved on the flight (after the cost of the train tickets). Needed 4 seats, and they could only reserve 2 of them in 1st class so two sat together, 2 were seperated.
You should also make sure you go to Fussen to see the Neuschwanstein castle. I went to Salzburg and was dissappointed. Spend at least 2 days in Munchen! The Residence is good for 1 day, and the German museum at least 1 more. Also, beer is great there!

Good luck! | AA flies directly into FRA from ORD as an FYI.
I tend to fly AA a lot; the Flagship Suites are incredible for sleeping comfort for an overnight flight. Transfer to BA is a bit of a hassle but I usually skip the "in transit" bus and walk between the terminals through the underground walkway. I can still get to MUC by 10:30 via AA/BA from JFK.
For a short trip, it would be critical to fly non-stop; but for a longer trip, say of 10 days as the OP mentions, a transfer won't be the end of the world
I would recommend looking into cheap flights from FRA to MUC. Might be just as cheap as the Deutsche Bahn.
