Paris Hotel and Restaraunt Recommendations
Going for ED next month.
Any recommendations for nice hotels and restaraunts. Will be in Paris 3 nights.
| | Reply » Paris Hotel and Restaraunt Recommendations | We stayed at the Le Meridien Montparnasse back in March. Got it for 99 bucks a night thru priceline. Check www.biddingfortravel.com for tips.
Not really quaint but its very convenient. 2 blocks from the Metro and right across from the Air France shuttle to CDG.

You need to come late, or line up early. You'll probably be seated at tables with other folks (cafeteria type seating, but with tableclothes).
But the food is great (we re-ordered the escargots they were so good), and you'll be mixing it up with many locals. The first time we went in 2002, it was French menu only - but I went again in 2004, and there was an English menu. Bring a guide book with a translation page just to make sure - unless you speak French.
We stayed at the Renaissance La Defense, which is basicallya nice Marriott. Am planning to stay there again.

Great location across from the Tulleries Gardens, 2 blocks from Concorde and a metro stop across the street. You can get some good deals if you call them and ask. If you don't stay there at least go have some coffee and pastry at the famous Angelina's next door...and buy a little picture from Janet who will be selling them on the sidewalk close by. Car parking is by valet only...we dropped off the night before and took the Air France bus into town. I just hit their web page...yep, still expensive...E500/night is about the lowest (But my wife will tell you it was worth it).

I think St Germain is the ideal district to stay in Paris. Near the Latin Quarter, near the major sites, yet far enough away to be "authentic Parisian" though.
K&K is walking distance to almost everything. and of course you're near 10000 restaurants, cafe's, and bistros. it's Paris, afterall.
you can go further into the LQ, and stay at places like Leutetia, but that tends to be either great or so-so, depending on your room. you'll be closer to some stuff there, but further from stuff like the E. tower, Concorde, Champs, etc..
u want to stay within the left bank. you'll probably pay more in the r. bank, and the local atmosphere won't be as good.
have fun.. you're making me want to get on a plane and spend a week in paris myself.
