Last night I stopped by my local dealer to do a final test drive of a 5 Series. His information on the 07 E60s lead me to believe he didn't know what he was talking about, but his story was: Since the factory is shutting down to re-tool for 07 production, he has to sell ED E60s out of his allocation (and therefore can't deal). This directly contradicts what I've read here - that the only cars to come out of allocation for ED are M's. He also seemed to think that 07 E60s wouldn't be in the US until August, which also seems to be a bit off. I would have guessed mid May at the latest. In fact, I believe supply is constrained on E60s now because of the re-tool at the factory. Too bad as I was ready to place an order yesterday.

So my question is:

Does the factory retooling change what cars come out of allocation vs. non-allocation for Euro Delivery?

Should I find an LA dealer who understands ED better?
