Can anyone provide information on leasing or renting a BMW in Europe?? Is this possible within the bounds of reason (more or less)? The person planning the trip is already very well fixed for wheels, so doesn't want to take my first advice (of course "buy one and bring it back") The plan is to start and end in Germany (ideally Frankfort) using the car for a month starting is late June. This is a serious request, and any knowledge/information would be appreciated. Initial inquiries through US based rental companies haven't resulted in much. |

Does it have to be BMW?? Renault has a great program for scenrios like this. You essentially get a brand new Renault for the long/extended rental and drop the car off at Harms and that is it!! Harms will ship the car back to renault for resale in France. You pay for the rental of the car and the price is pretty good (compare to retal agency).
Something worth looking into, do a google on the subject.
cheers,

beewang | Thanks Bee but I don't think a Renault would be of interest. A little more info...the planner "helped" me on my M3 ED last Oct, and enjoyed European driving. He is looking to take family members along so needs 4 seater but doesn't need another car back home. (already has a Lotus)

Car rentals try Hertz Prestige Collection in Europe, Eurocar (not sure if they have BMWs though, have MB) or Sixt.

There is a set price for the first three weeks, and then a very good daily rate thereafter. Brand new cars, many models, including luxury sedans with navigation.
While I don't recall the specific details, significant tax benefits (I believe having to do with the manufacturer selling a "used" car instead of a new car) accrue to Renault/Peugot.
Don't sell these cars short just because we in the States are unfamiliar with them. On my ED last year, I was pretty impressed (with the aesthetics at least) of these Frenchmobiles.
