 Almost an ED nightmare

I had a delivery scheduled for this past friday. My flight was scheduled to arrive at 10:30 am in Munich. Plenty of time, right? Unfortunately, my 2nd plane encountered a problem with its NAV system 1000 miles over the Atlantic and had to head back to JFK.

When I landed, I snatched one of the last seats on an outbound flight to London. Even under the best circumstances, I was looking at a 5pm arrival in Munich - 1.5 hours after the delivery office closed for the weekend.

After frantic calling and e-mailing at airport payphones and internet kiosks, and with some calls from my fiance at home, I was granted mercy: Thomas Huemann from the dropoff agency now affiliated with Harms picked up my car and stored it at the dropoff point, brought my paperwork to the airport, picked me up, and delivered ME to my baby at Harms at 6:00 PM. And since I have an early flight on Monday, he's letting me deliver it on Sunday PM and will take me directly to the Kempinski airport hotel.

How about that for service? Given BMW's hours I would have been screwed, but Harms saved my trip. I can't praise them (and Margit from the BMW delivery center) enough.

Anyway, due to my tight timeframe here - I need to go out and enjoy some more of Munich.

Wow, that is a great thing they did for you! Glad to hear it worked out, and kudos to Harms and BMW!!!

Wow, that is really going above and beyond than what they need to do.

Whom did you call from JFK? Dealer/ED dept/Munich delivery center (Tel??)? Since any of us taking delivery could suddenly end up in this situation, having info on the right person to call would be useful.

I had a similar problem with a late flight. I was supposed to arrive in munch at 7A on a Friday, but did not arrive untill 1P which just enough time to get the car. The only reason I made it was because I was not checking bags and they rerouted my on a really tight connection. The moral of the story is *never arrive on a Friday(or day before a holiday) and plan to pick up the car the same day.* Fly in the day before.

The subject of your post says it all. A lot of stress, but you got there.

One point: not sure what you mean by the ,,dropoff agency now affiliated with Harms``. Harms has its own offices in München and throughout Germany. When you go to the Robert Bosch Straße to drop off your car, that is a Harms office.

(For that matter, they have their own trucks for car transport and just finished a new terminal facility in Zeebrugge. )

Harms is really first class. You would be hard pressed to find such great personal service here back in the States.

My experience wasn't as exciting but got the first rate treatment from them. I dropped off my car at 3:30pm on Friday. Instead of sending us a cab, Gerd was leaving work and offerred to drop us off at our hotel in his nice Mercedes.
