Looking for early March ED - anyone?

Wife and I are taking delivery the first week of March - Plan on doing Germany, Austria, Italy and ???. Thought it would be cool to hook up with folks from home and touring together. Our plans are are pretty loose right now with the exception of our delivery date. Jump in if interested.

We'll be doing our next ED in spring '07. However, we did a 13-day tour in '01 covering the same areas you mention. We did a loop from Munich to Salzburg to Venice with a stopover in Bolzano (home of the ice man). From there we did Lake Como (north of Milan, a quiet little town called Verenna) to Interlaken and Lucerne Switzerland. We did a stopover in another little Swiss cow town called Appenzel. We did a day in Innsbruck/Hall. Our last stop before heading back to Munich was a day at the King Ludwig castles staying in Routte.

While it is great to drive your new car, we planned our trip so we would never have more than a two or three hour drive on any one day. I'm glad we did. Others may have different objectives/opinions. Our favorite places we Salzburg, Lake Como and the Alps. Venice was fine. But, we'll likely not go back. The castle was OK. We stayed in small hotels and B&Bs in the old town sections of most cities. We made all our reservations via a rented cell phone the day before. One advantage of your timing is that it will not be as busy. The best investment we made was in Rick Steves' books.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, I can talk about this all day with a smile on my face.

Cheers,

Beans.

Waiting to get confirm through Adrian for March 6th pickup. I'll post as soon as I have production number. As it stands now, my son and I will likely go Brenner Pass to Verona, on to Siena as a base for a few days and wrap up in Florence.

Reminder to those contemplating a delivery in February and early March.

Winter tires are required (all season tires count technically) by German law during this period.
