 Munich to Paris ED

Going for pickup next month. Would also like to visit Paris/France and fly home from there. Anyone have general tips for this itinerary? (airfares, travel tips such as trains, hotels, restaraunts, sights to see) Looking to spend about 6 days total in Europe. Will probably drive for a few days in Germany before dropping car off then maybe going by train or other means to Paris. I know we can drop off Paris too but just want to drop off in Munich then move on.

You can find rail pricing on the net, we considered this and it wasn't really too expensive to get from Munich to Paris...about half the price of air fare but I believe about 11 hours (?). I don't understand why you just don't drive to Paris and drop off there? We did that and it was fine (Stayed at the airport, dropped off the next morning, took a bus into town to our hotel, stayed 4 days and then flew home).

You can easily spend 3 days in Germany and 3 days in Paris...Frankfurt to Paris is an easy one day drive BTW.

If you travel via Lufthansa, then you can do an open jaw to Paris. For example, my wife and I are doing:

Mar 10, SFO - FRA - CDG
Mar 17, CDG - MUC
Mar 20, MUC - SFO

This is basically a SFO - Paris ticket, with a stopover in Munich. Costs the same (or cheaper) than a SFO-MUC ticket, I don't waste time driving on a Freeway, paying gas, tolls etc. We plan on doing our driving closer to Munich.

This is our second ED, where we did do the long drive. So, it is really up to you what you want to do, but cost wise, you do have options.

I just got back from an ED that ended in Paris. My writeup is here.

Correction - my trip is a stopover (in Munich), not open jaw. Got confused - was planning on doing an open jaw.
