 Romantic Road and VIN number

Has anyone done the romantic road trip? We are thinking of joining at Rothenburg and driving south all the way to Fussen - and want to reach Innsbruck by the end of the day? Most tourist books recommend 2-3 days for the entire journey - Can you do justice by completing it in a day? Or rather just take the A-bahn from Rothenburg to Fussen?

I booked the lufthansa tickets using 2 for 1, $1100/2 - SF-MUC nonstops!! I have the production number, however, Lufthansa is saying that they need the VIN - car is scheduled for Feb production. Any idea on when I can expect to get the VIN #?

Do Lufthansa planes have power supply in economy/Prem economy? The wi-fi would not be of much use if the laptop only has 2 hr power in it.

FWIW, the Romantic Road isn't terribly romantic. It's named such because it was the route of an old Roman road from the Alps up through the southern plains of Germany. It's actually kind of a pita to follow; as it goes straight through many small and not-so-small towns. The best stretches are from Fussen to Augsburg, and from Nordlingen to Rothenburg.

My wife and I went the opposite direction, from Fussen to Rothenburg, in one afternoon; but we didn't stop, except for a "bio-break" and some french fries at a BK.

I think the VIN is created at start of production.

Lufthansa has two and three class A340s from the U.S. to Munich (depending on point of origination). No premium economy (not sure that is exactly). First/business (in 3 class config)/coach.

I don't believe there are powerpoints in coach. However, given that you'll probably want to sleep much of the ride over, two hours of battery might be enough.

They (Lufthansa) were giving out certificates in the Senator Lounge for one free hour so keep your eyes out for those.

Not sure about SFO, but at JFK they have great Bier vom Faß (we were enjoying Spaten Oktoberfest in November). Something else to keep in mind.

Second that. Many parts stretch through the urban/light industry sections of towns and offer little more than stop-&-go truck traffic. If I had it to do over, I'd just do one of the aforementioned scenic sections and hop on the A-bahn to make time.
