 Currency Exchange: Best place?

Hello To All,

- Will someone please let me know where they feel the best place to exchange from USD to EURO....

-I am planning out the details of my trip...Have just got my confirmation from Rolf...so he will be my first expense in Munich...Do I exchange at the airport as soon as I get off the plane since I would like to be able to pay my fair...or will the Marriott exchange when I get there....

Please let me know....

Thank You.

Just my own experience but I got the best deal getting Euros from my bank here prior to leaving. Although, I didn't really get enough so I still fell victim to the currency conversion fees while I was over there, it won't happen this year though

ATM withdrawal at the airport in Munich.

Caveatesq is spot on. ( I didn't feel like using the I'm with Stupid icon).

Also, hotels are the worst place for currency exchange. They probably take 20% on average.

I always have EUR 40-50,- with me to avoid the need to withdraw immediately but on rare occasions where I needed Geld immediately, the ATM is the best bet!

Here is a question: what banks operate the best ATM's in Germany? I have used DB's and I recall that they have no fees for withdrawing money- is that typical of all ATM's in Germany?

I tried to get money before the trip here in KC at my Bank of America...the teller had to go ask the superviser what an Euro was....I walked away. (We're a bit slow here in the midwest) I agree on the Frankfurt or Munich airport ATMs as the best place to change money.
