Went in today to pay for my new 550 and it was brought to my attention that my car was accidently ordered with a stick instead of the Automatic transmission. I did not notice it on the order form since on the order there is no info on the type of transmission. BMW ed was already closed for today, will have to get corrected tomarrow. I am supposed to pick up the car Jan 11. Hopefully the dealer can correct this. I never really thought about it but i think BMW should listed the type of transmission on the order form instead of just leaving it blank which i guess means stick. $1300 more to get the stick over the automatic because of the gas guzzler tax. Luckily the sales person admitted it was his mistake. By the way the dealer had two M5 in silver gray asking price $115,00 and $116,000

There was a thread a few months ago about a fellow who ordered a 760Li, and later cancelled after he read the contract and disclaimers from BMW NA. This guy was flamed here for that. In your case, it may be too late to get you a car exactly like you ordered. Some in this forum have mentioned that there is a pool of cars that may be picked up on short notice. Maybe you can find one you like, but if you don't, will you cancel your order?

It is yours and dealer's responsibility to see to it the car is order correctly. That is why we all agreed that you must deal w/ an experinced ED dealer.
I hope everything works out for you.

At the very least make the dealer eat the 1300 additional cost. Do you have a document that states what you ordered. When I did ed I emailed the configuration of the car several times to the dealer and asked for the dealer to verify back to me that that was the order.
Agree with beewang deal with an experieced ed dealer and sales person.
