 Hmmm...

So sitting at my desk I got bored and decided to call the automated voice recognition of BMWNA to see what the status of my car is. For some strange reason, I cannot check my car's status online at the owner's circle anymore. So I called the #, and because I didn't have my production # handy it transferred me to a live person. I told her my information and if she could look up the status of my car.

She responds that my car is at the dealership ready for pickup. I jokingly asked her how that was possible given I just dropped off my car in Munich 10 days ago on the 19th. After on hold for several more minutes she said the dealership is looking into the matter to see where my car is and will call me back.

Giving into slight paranoia, this hopefully does not mean they lost my car or something...wishing for a system error of sorts. It is likely not that big a deal...but losing track of a 40k car is a bit disconcerting; any thoughts?

This is normal...my car was supposedly at VPC when the dealer called me to come pick it up. And supposedly en-route to VPC when it was at the VPC. Don't worry, they don't lose cars. Like you and everybody else I find it hard to believe they can't track things better than they do...but that's life in the computer age. BMW should start shipping via UPS so they know where their cars are.

Ok, this makes me feel better. I am curious to see what the dealer says, however.

I also noticed I no longer have an option to track my vehicle through http://oc.bmwusa.com (not sure if that stands for Owners Circle, or Obsessive Compulsive).

I called the status number a gave my prod # and the message says my car is 'In Transit'. Thats probably as non-detailed as one can get while still uttering words.

Seems like the best way for us to get any info is to track the car ourselves through the W&W website and AISLIVE.com, or to pester our dealer.

I'll be pestering my dealer a few days after my car arrives in NY on Jan 7 to see what the story with customs is. Thats the part that has me worried, some people say customs took a few days, others took a month!

Yup mine says "in transit" as well last I checked (a week ago). I'm not a fan of bugging the dealer, so if he doesn't respond I won't bug him again until what I think the ship is on hits Port Hueneme...
