Any advice of my trip to Venice after I pickup my car on Dec 2. Will the snow be so bad that I may not even get to Venice? Recent corresponding with arnolds of his trip report to Italy recently got me excited. He had no problem with the drive. Will the weather changes that drastically within the next 4 weeks. Yesterday, after my brief conversation with Beewang, he said that the weather be pretty bad, but advised me to seek more info from members here. I guess I looking for some advise with booking my hotel and return flight to include Venice or not.

Where else do you plan to go?
I think they keep the Brenner pass open thru winter so getting to Venice should not be a problem.

I would rather check out the Christmas markets in Rothenburg and other German cities.

We had a trip from Munich to Venice via St. Gallan, Switzerland and Innsbruck, Austria in 3 days (Oct 12). The highway from Austria to Venice was excellent, although you need a roadpass (U.S.$15 for 10 days-min) for driving in Austria. We passed thru many many gorgeous tunnels.....and curvy roads. The best part was from Innsbruck to Modena, Italy......many many no limit zones...... If your car is equipped with Navi, you'll know the road ahead so you can easily reach 120mph+.

I personally loved everything about it, even tourist-laden Rialto and San Marco. Every turn led to a new picturesque alley or nook and cranny. Check out a few of my photos from my blog:
