Italy opinions, ideas??
I'm doing an ED at the end of March. I have put together the following trip. One week (6 nights)...
Starting in Munich, I am going south to Italy, and back to Munich. My current plan is: One night in Asolo, one night in Venice (I've been before), two nights in Florence, one night in Montalcino/Siena.
I need help for the 6th night...I am looking for a good overnight stop between Siena and Munich. I was thinking about Verona; any opinions on Verona or other suggestions? Modena..Parma..Bologna??
Are there any Ferrari related activities in Modena; I have been told by Ferrari-owning friends, that there is no public tour, that you must own a Ferrari or know someone.
Thank you.

Helps if you are a frequent buyer. Nor can you visit the local test track. However, there is an outstanding museum with an extensive collection of Ferrari F1 machinery. I believe it is open to the public. It is really worth seeing. The cars are generally very accessible so you can study them up close. FWIW I did the factory tour and museum several years ago while on a business trip (CEO had a car on order).

I was instructed that if you own a Ferrari and able to furnish the Vin number to the Dealership in your area, they will send in a letter so you can go thru the factory tour. There are actually are 2 factory tours one for owners and another if you are someone of importance such as the Pope, then they give you an Enzo.

Thank you. | Ferrara and Mantua are two lovely towns. They have great architecture and art ( and cuisine). Mantua is right on your route back to Munich (outside the town there are two restaurants among the best in Italy; Palazzo del te is to be seen). Ferrara is a bit of a detour, but very interesting (palazz) dei diamanti). Have fun1
| | Reply » Italy opinions, ideas?? | Thanks for the help. It turns out my mom's boyfriend, a Ferrari owner, can hook me up; so I am going to try to arrange something.
| | Reply » Italy opinions, ideas?? | I'd suggest Bologna, I'm there at the moment on my ED. Check out my report, I just posted some pictures. I plan to drop by Modena in the morning on my way to Innsbruck. I've been before, but not by car. Also considering the Ferrari museum, I'll let you know how it is if I go. You'll love Florence & Sienna, it's also not even a full day trip from there to go see Pisa, which I enjoyed on my last trip. I'd have strong hesitations about driving into Florence though, especially in the spring when people are back on their mopeds. I nearly got in an accident several times with my rental last time, and purposely didn't go there on my ED this time because I didn't want anything to happen. Perhaps book a room somewhere just outside the city, or even better, stay at a nice pension in the amazing countryside surrounding Florence & park outside the city and explore by foot. I stayed at a pension in Greve in Chianti last time, so beautiful, and a nice drive to San Gimignano & Sienna.
