Hello To All and Happy New year !!!!!
-I am picking up my car in Munich on Feb 27,2006 and would like to know if anyone has a link or any info to a Ship schedule.....I am basically looking to find out on which days in Feb/March 2006 will ships be leaving Munich for the East Coast (NY/NJ)? and If I wanted my car on a certain day that the ship is leaving how much time in advance does Harms need for my car to end up on that particular ship...Is 1 day enough is 2 hours enough?
-the reason I would like to know is so that I can Maximize my time with the car while in Europe....for ex....If I am planning on dropping of the car at Harms on Monday but the ship wont leave until Wed or Thursday then I would rather drive my car for the few extra days....
your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Thank you. | I don't know quite how to break this to you, but Munich is landlocked (not counting the Isar). Ships don't leave from Munich. Depending on what city you drop your car off, your car will leave from Zeebrugge or Bremerhaven.

You are welcome, but I should have added that what you are asking is impossible regardless of geography. First, time to port of departure depends on what city you are dropping off in. Given weather and other issues (and the winter storms have been fierce, this year in particular), trucking schedules to port cities may be off schedule. (These are not published anyway.) A typical drop-off in München might mean your car sits for 1-3 days there before leaving by truck. Then there´s the transport time to the port. Then, there´s the 48 hour rule, plus BMW may not necessarily have booked space on every vessel leaving the port your car is at. And this is all before your car boards a vessel which could take 12 to 18 days to get to Port NEAT. So it´s best to plan a trip you´ll enjoy as you cannot calculate the most efficient time to give up your car to Harms or their agent. Finally, a caution that you are ordering a car with summer tires and picking it up during a time at which winter tires may be required by law (if there is snow or ice on the ground). If you were to have an accident and it was shown to be due to having summer tires, Gerling has already gone on record saying that the accident will not be covered. Late Feb. /early March weather is similar to November and look at how the weather was in November.

-As always thanks for your knowledgeable and comprehensive breakdown....In any case we are making back up plans in case the weather is going to be snowy...in this case we will just drive the car straight to Harms and start moving by trains.
Thanks.
