Convincing my wife to do an ED

Since I am almost done swappning my E39 for an E65, I am about to embark on my next Bimmer project.

The December lease rates on the E60 make up for sweet deals for a 24 month lease. We were anyway planning to take a trip back East in March. I sense opportunity .

My Z4 lease continues till August 2007 but I am hoping that I will be able to find someone to take over my lease next April. Especially since SMG has been discontinued and the lease payment is very aggressive $550 for a $48.5K car.

Now it is my job to convince my wife that we should do ED on that trip. I need your help in convincing her.

We would like to visit Italy and Spain.

Some specific questions to start off:
Drop Off in Spain:
- Is the drop off in Spain an issue like the drop-off in Italy where the car is driven to Munich?
- How much more will it add to the redilevery time?

Weather in March:
How is the weather in March in Italy and Spain? Worth it?

I will post more information and questions as I try to create the dream trip to justify the ED.

BTW, we will be travelling with a 7 month old.

The weather will be similar to SoCal, you will be fine.

Weather in Spain is nice, as it is in Italy that time of year.

The drop-off is not a problem; it's handled by truck and taken to Zeebrugge.

According to Harms, the time to port (and not overall redelivery time) can be 3-7 longer from anywhere outside of Germany since it is not handled by a Harms office and taken by a Harms truck.

You can show your wife my calendar, which I made as a souvenir of my most recent European Delivery trip, at http://www.lulu.com/content/198766

Maybe between that, and reading others' travelogues here, she'll get psyched.

Definitely, Spain is worth it(Barcelona, Granada, Seville, Cordoba, Toledo, Segovia, Avila and Madrid, etc.) You will have nice weather, even though until April you could get some rain. Avoid 'Semana Santa' at all cost. Everything will be fully booked during that week.

Google search tells me that: No mother with a 7 month old baby ever had a 'dream' trip on a car. Let's settle for a nice and memorable trip.

My wife was unsure and hesitant about the whole idea, but ended up really enjoying the experience. I let her drive some on the Autobahn, maybe that's why.
