 ED Pics

All my pics will ran through thumbnail software and posted on my personal web log here: http://www.dotnetworkaholic.com/

Tomorrow at 11am Munich time we should be meeting up with ad2005 for delivery (my third ED) so depending on open WiFi around Munich expect pics fairly soon. Friends over there tell me that 50% of WiFi routers are left open mainly because it is cool to share your WiFi in Europe.

Pics will be posted throughout the journey to the above url so please keep checking back.

Hopefully we won't wreck in the snow like the 650 owner. Don't worry though, if we do I'll be sure to take lots of pics of the carnage.

Finally pictures are up for Day 0, 1, 2 and 3. Lack of any free internet connection in hotels + no time to find an open connection is my only excuse. This connection is costing about $19 for one day!!!

There are more pics to come of an increasingly filthy BMW.

People will be wondering about the snow. Well there is an awful lot of snow and all of it looks very pretty As expected the major highways are _continually_ ploughed and salted. Only on one road was I close to fitting snow chains and later on that same road we had a minor low speed slide for a few yards. The temporary loss of steering control was not unexpected given the conditions, and we were driving slowly - 40 mph would have been a different story.

In snow/ ice I recommend keeping your distance from the vehicles in front because their snow tires will stop an awful lot quicker than you can on multi-seasons. Also keep the speed _way_ down especially if you not from the snow belt. We experienced a handful of locals(?) fly by us today on the winding roads to Davos, and I just pulled over to let them pass if I could before they started the inevitable kamikaze passing maneuver.

It appears all motorway service stations sell snow chains for those who are leaving the decision to a last minute weather report. The stations we visited stock a boat load of sizes, but I could not find a price. Oh and just in case you did not hear several times already, Europe is a bloody expensive collection of countries!
