Should I do ED?
OK, I am in the market for a new 330 or 325 (I am also looking at a C230, Infiniti G35 and an Acura TL). I stumbled upon the ED and am interested in it. I will happen to be in Germany this Spring at the World Cup (go USA!).
First, when I read that people usually paid ED Invoice plus about 1k, is invoice the same as Wholesale (which is listed as a sticky on this site). If not, where are the invoice prices listed?
Are there any fees outside of the Invoice, Dealer Profit (1k or so) that I should depend on?
Does it matter which dealship to use. I live in the sticks (San Luis Obispo) and we have a BMW dealership close by but no other close by.
I may only be able to drive the car for a couple of days in Germany. Is there a minimum mileage?
Finally, how easy is this? Is it worth the extra hassle to save a couple of grand?
Thanks for all your help.

Well the usual $695 destination charge, taxes, license, registration, doc fees in CA, electronic filing and tire fees.
You can try the BMW Dealer sponsor in Santa Barbara. Click on the Sponsors page.
No minimum mileage, you can pick-up the car and drive it right to the drop-off point.
Well you have to wait for the car to arrive in CA about 8-9 weeks after you drop if off. Also BMW typically prefers a 60-day lead time on ED orders as they need to manufacture the car 30-days before you pick it up in Munich.
You can save money if you happen to be going to Germany anyways or using miles. However a lot of times you actually spend more than the savings, but it's a great experience to drive it on the A-bahn.
Do a Search everything you want to know is covered in this forum.

Thanks for all your help. | I recommend you spend time reading posts here from people describing their trips. That will help you make your own decision.
| | Reply » Should I do ED? | As Jonathan said, read the posts to familiarize yourself with the process (which is what I did before deciding to ED), then post specific questions.
If you're going to be in Germany anyway it sounds like ED would be a no-brainer for you.

They will be your best bet on an ED deal (and close proximity) ask for my man Keith Kinely or CJ (the manager, not the salesman). Please feel free to drop my name "beewang".
cheers,

First, when I read that people usually paid ED Invoice plus about 1k, is invoice the same as Wholesale (which is listed as a sticky on this site). If not, where are the invoice prices listed? --The list is hidden somewhere on the website, but 1k over invoice depends on which vehicle. A search here on this topic would answer you question. Are there any fees outside of the Invoice, Dealer Profit (1k or so) that I should depend on? --none, or should I say whatever you spent on your priceless vacation. Does it matter which dealship to use. I live in the sticks (San Luis Obispo) and we have a BMW dealership close by but no other close by. --Not all dealers are ED savy or put any effort into it but we have plenty of sponsors here that are awesome(ie. Nalley BMW, Adrian Avila)
I may only be able to drive the car for a couple of days in Germany. Is there a minimum mileage? --There is no limit, some people pick it up and drive it to a nearby drop off location. I recommend the experience of driving the car on the roads it was designed to be driven in. Finally, how easy is this? Is it worth the extra hassle to save a couple of grand? It is as easy as e-mailing a sponsor and working out a deal with them if you know exactly what you want. Thanks for all your help.
Guy Gadois | Just do it and you'll see how worth it it is.
