Q's re Front Bumper Damage during ED redeliver

I dropped off my 545i in Nice, France on 9/22 and it arrived in PH mid November (it was on the slow boat Bellona). When I picked it up from my local dealer, there were two stickies on the bumper to show to nicks (one is actualy on the license plate holder so I'm not concerned about that one). The other is on the bumper and it's large enough where the paint is coming off. I told my dealer that I didn't have that when I dropped it off in France and they're contending that they didn't do it. I told them it likely occurred during transport (France to US). I'm plannin on putting a clear bra on it but can't since the bumper is somewhat damaged. What can I do?

So far, I faxed the document I received from Nice showing the car had no scratches. My dealer just told me that the scratch is part of "wear and tear." I disagreed. My dealer stated I should come down to talk to his boss since they weren't responsible for the scratch. I'm going today so any feedback is much appreciated.

It should be fixed by someone. It doesn't matter whose fault it was to you--someone had insurance for it. If the damage was there when it got to VPC, then it should have been fixed there, and charged either to your driving insurance or the marine/transit insurance. Since it left VPC, it's on BMW or the dealer, and one of them should pay to have it fixed. Talk with the dealer and tell them to work with BMW NA to figure out where the damage came from.

Without knowing anything more, I suspect the dealer is at fault because they were too quick to say "not us". If they knew anything, they would know that your car is supposed to be put back in like-new condition, and that they should be working to pin the blame on someone else, not just escape blame themselves. If it came to them with teh damage, I bet their answer would have been "yeah, it must have been damaged in transit to us."
