ED - Port to Dealer Timing

OK - my 550i hit the US port tonight. Any idea on how long it will take to get to the dealer? I got a letter from BMWNA stating that there are increased customs checks on ED vehicles and there could be a delay up to 20 days! Is there a web site where I can track the remaining leg of my car's voyage?

Please share your experiences...

That should give you a start.

Wasn't that 20 business days??? This is boilerplate that has been around awhile. Current conditions may be a bit slow, but generally it should take less than two weeks from wheels-dry until arrival at dealer.

My car, which supposedly arrived at Port Hueneme on 11/23 (aboard Kassel), is STILL at VPC today, 12/12. My dealer told me it is scheduled to be delivered on 12/17. That would make 9 weeks since I dropped it off in Paris
He also told me it only got to VPC on 12/6, which is a LOOOOONG time to unload the ship.
Or maybe that's when FDA inspection takes place. This wait is, unquestionably, the worst part about ED program.

Lepeau: was your car on Freedom? my car was on it and looks like it finally made it to NEAT last night... Dont know if it's a good news or bad news, but there are 2 ships coming in tomorrow (12/13). Hopefully, our cars will make it thru VPC infront of the 2 ships tomorrow (and hopefully, VPC will not take too long as they'll want to clean up the queue in front of the other ships... and with the holidays/year end approaching...) i know, it's a lot of "hopefull"s... but what else do we have to cling on to till the wait is over...

i ordered my car thru bmw of manhattan which is a stone throw away from VPC so I can almost smell it... how far are you from VPC?

ivid - first congratulations on your new ride. Very exciting for all of us. My car arrived on the Grand Voyage which arrived on the 10th. I am hoping to have my car for my trip to NYC on the 22nd. I hate the thought of tossing my CA key to a parking jockey in the city.

I am about 200 miles from the VPC located near Baltimore. My family is from NJ/NY so I drive by the VPC regularly. I share your thoughts of being so close yet so far.

Patience was never my virtue.

Best holiday wishes and happy joy riding!
