Difficulty in purchasing a prepaid SIM in Munich...
Ok, so I've done some good research by searching this forum, but have some questions remaining that hopefully an experienced person could answer right away: I have an unlocked Motorola V3 Razr with Cingular. I will be in Munich for only 4 days, do not plan on calling the US at all, and most of my calls will be with locals in trying to meet up and such.
I assume I should just buy a prepaid SIM? Where do they sell these, how much talk time do you get with say a 30 Euro card, and if I don't speak German can I still use this card (i.e. are there any setup procedures I have to do in German on first use or per call basis?)
Thank you all, I leave on Wednesday so I'm excited.

Thank you all, I leave on Wednesday so I'm excited. | It's very easy. I bought one at the Munich Airport. They even activate the SIM card for you. If I remember correctly, for 30 euro, you get 10 euro of talk time. If you are using it to call within Germany, it's about 0.40 euro per minute.

I made a few calls back to the states and a few calls in Europe, and I ran out... so not sure how long it lasted. There is a bit of hassle with them... first off, you will not know your phone# until you get the sim. Second, as you wisely noted... the instructions are in German. I had a German with me, and she programmed in the update which had several steps including getting and respondig to a text message in German.
Finally, Cingular has (in March anyway) a .99c per minute option, if you are just making a few calls here and there and for only 4 days, you may be better off just using your own # and paying the slightly higher costs... Getting a new sim would be fairly expensive anyway.
Hopefully you will be enjoying the sights and not chatting on the phone too much!
PS: Buy your cards in Germany, very easy, I had a h*ll of a time finding them in Italy.

For 4 days, not worth it as the cost of buying the SIM outweighs the savings. I would also recommend using Skype-Out for longer conversations if feasible (i.e. when in hotel room or near hot spot).

Sorry for the lack of knowledge on this.. | Skype-Out is the feature of Skype that lets you call non-Skype users for EUR ,02 cents / min. Skype (see www.skype.com) is a free Voice over IP service. I used Skype and Skype-Out from my Lufthansa flight over to call from the plane at 11,000 m aloft.
