I wanted to share my planned ED itinerary to see if anyone has any hotel (100-150Euro range) or restaurant suggestions, also suggestions of places to visit in between destinations or other useful advice. My main concern is whether I'm trying to cram too much into 8 days. Thoughts? Mar 28 - Depart Washington-Dulles on a Lufthansa A340 to Munich Mar 29 - Arrive AM - Spend day in Munich - Factory Tour Mar 30 - Pick-up car at BMW - Drive to Lucerne Mar 31 - Lugano Apr 1 - Florence (3 nights) Apr 4 - Venice (2 nights) Apr 6 - Salzburg Apr 7 - Munich Return Car - PM Depart Flight home BTW - My current order (subject to change) is 325i (Sparkling Graphite w/ Black interior), PP, Nav, Xenon, Heated Seats - still undecided about Sport Package (this is also dependent on the Winter Tire law in Germany, does it still apply it late March?)

Your itinerary is quite leisurely, especially compared to the many "first" itineraries that people post here. I don't think it's too rushed. Regarding tires, the likelihood of snow at that time is very low with average temperature highs hitting 10-11° (Munich). Beginning of March is much colder just to contrast. And you are heading to warmer climes. Your weather will be similar to what I experienced in mid-November if not warmer. Did you look at the weather for Lugano, for example. Look at how warm it gets on average. http://de.weather.com/weather/climat...m?dayofyear=84 So if I were you, I would not not get the sport package because of summer tire concerns.

Venice can be done in one day, but since you will be there for two days, be sure to check out Murano. I absolutely love Lake Lucerne (I stayed in Weggis) and Lugano, but I went in May/June. I definitely agree on checking the average temps and usual weather before you plan your trip, especially if you have the flexibility of going later.

Another question - If I book now, on CheapSeats.com I can get non-stop flights from Washington-Dulles to Munich for $570 per person (including tax). Is it worth booking now, or should I hold out to see if the BMW-Lufthansa has a Spring offer (seems unlikely to me they will have an offer that beats this.) Thoughts?

Thoughts? | Well..this year, between Jan to Mar 27, BMW-Lufthansa had two free tickets offer for ED buyers. We flew 2nd week of March from LA to Muc for $550 for two persons.
