 few questions around ED..

Hey all, have been reading posts here for a few months. I'm considering 550i ED for February pick-up but have a few concerns:

1. I was told that my trade in would have to be turned in to the dealer 30 days before my pick-up date in Munich. A bit crazy, no car for 30 days then no car while waiting for arrival of the 550. How did you manage to be without a car for that long? Did your dealer also have this requirement?

2. Is $2000 off ED price a good deal on a 550?

3. is there a accessory shop at the ED center?

That's it. Would appreciate any comments.

You have to pay for the car 30 days before as apparently that is when BMW deducts payment from your dealer for the production of your car. I guess you could hold out trading in until you get your car, however you would have to pay them the full price of the car, i.e. they would not give you credit for the tradein.

2. You should go the other way, i.e. how much over invoice as opposed to how much under MSRP. Depending on the car, you can get as low as $600 over invoice.

3. No clue...

1. I have heard people being able to hold on to their trade in until the ED car gets re-delivered. Try to work with your dealer. If not, how about renting a car for a month? Your ED deal commences 14 days prior to pickup in Munich and any financial dealings with the dealer end at that point. I would expect a trade-in deal also will be handled then.

2. Maybe, check the pricing at the Ask a Dealer forum and see how much over invoice that is. Pricing also depends on your local market condition. 2k off in Chicago might be a good deal.

3. No, you have to go to the Niederlassung Dealership which is about 10 minutes from the ED center.

FYI Niederlassung means Dealership.

I would be sorely tempted to translate Niederlassung into English as "branch" when I read that the Frankfurter Ring dealership is the main or head one belonging to it: Quote:
