 Another Nov 21 Delivery

Hi all - Greetings from Heidelberg!!!!

Sorry to hear about all the others who had problems with the snow this week

We picked up our 530 xiT on Monday morning. Bernhard delivered our car - what a GREAT guy!! Spent almost 2 hours with us. It was definitely snowing!! He told us that the M&S tires on our car were fine for the new winter tire requirements. Also, being from Connecticut/Vermont, we're no strangers to driving in snow!

We headed down to Fussen, and stayed at a Guesthouse in the Austrian Alps. Woke up on Tuesday to about a foot of snow!!! We drove through the Alps for a few hours - some of the most beatiful scenery I have ever seen. Will try to post some pics ASAP.

The car is AWESOME!!! At least as good in the snow as my previous 3 Audi quattros. Had absolutely no problems driving on snow covered mountain roads. The all-season tires were just fine. I've never put winter tires on my Audis, and have never had a problem - even in blizzards in Vermont. Don't think I will need them on this car either. Anyone who is planning on picking up an x-car with all season tires should be just fine in the winter, provided you are used to driving in winter conditions.

Drove my cousins E60 530d last night. Unbelievable power - they should definitely bring the diesels here - amazing torque. Definitely felt much quicker than my 530i, though I can't get on it too hard yet - only about 400 miles so far.

Anyways - Happy Thanksgiving to all!!! Thanks for all the advice - this has been a great trip - don't think I will ever buy a car another way!

Guten morgen Brian,

Glad to hear that you made it out fine. What time were you there?? I didn't see your car. There were aslo a couple of 650's for ED that day I didn't see. Please have a wonderful trip and post pictures to let me know what I missed.

Now that my head is clear, I have no regrets in my decision not to take delivery BUT I don't think they make a strong enough PAXIL dosage to treat my depression.

I hope that everyone reads that an XI is just fine in the snow and that the M+S will suffice for the German laws. I think I may have sent the wrong message in my thread.

HAve a great trip and post pictures soon.

Hey!

We got there at about 10:30 AM. Walked from the U-Bahn station. When we got to the gate it was snowing - so the director of the delivery center picked us up at the gate and we got a tour of the facilities. They don't prep the cars until you arrive - he showed us the process where they wash and clean the cars, and then where they check them over and put on the plates. He told us that they usually deliver at least 150 cars per day there! We saw 6 E60 police cars being prepped and delivered, and a bunch of Minis as well.

I think we saw your car there! Very Nice!!

To all with sport pkg who decided not to pick up your cars - GOOD CHOICE!!

Last night we had dinner in a small town outside Frankfurt. When we left at about 10:00, it was snowing pretty hard. Our return trip to Heidelberg took over 2 hours in blinding snow!!! Must have gotten at least 3 inches. Once again X-Drive came through!!! I couldn't believe how bad the roads were though. We saw no plows at all on any of the side roads, and we had to pass many cars driving 10 mph!! We spend a lot of time in Vermont in the winter, so I drive in snow all the time. But for those who are not used to it and don't have AWD or winter tires, I would strongly recommend not to schedule your EDs when there might be snow. Definitely don't want to see how good the insurance really is!!

But for those who don't mind the snow it is really beautiful here! Nothing like a mug of Gluwein and a Bratwurst standing out in the snow! Also Neuchwanstein castle was AMAZING in the snow!!

I'll try to post a few pic later today if I can get on a decent computer. If not, we will be writing up a full report when we get back home on Tuesday.

Hope you all hadŽa great thanksgiving!!

Congrats on the car and thanks for sharing - interesting reading of a first hand account on a winter ED. Back in 2001 I took ED of a 330Ci in March, and drove to Ischgl for a week of skiing. Fortunately, the weather cooperated, and we enjoyed beautiful sunny weather throughout our stay. Now - were are the pics, please ?
