Am interested in picking up an E46 3-Series Convertible but wanted to pick it up at the new facility (BMW Welt) that has yet to be completed. Anyone have an idea as to when production will be ceased on the E46 and generally how long after end of production could you pick up that body style at the factory or would they be keen on shipping them out as soon as possible?
Wanted to get the convertible as soon as the new BMW Welt opens and was hoping they would still be making the E46 as I like it a lot.

Many thanks!! | Not possible - E46 production will cease in early 2006. BMW Welt will open in early 2007 but european delivery may not be there at the opening (I just spent 3 hours at BMW Welt so my info is up to date).

Even for the convertible? I thought I read that the E90 coupe would start prod in early 2006 and the convertible in Jan 2007.

So BMW Welt is seriously behind schedule then. It was going to open in April of 2006.
(according to signs in front of the construction site in April of 2004) And I thought those Germans were so efficient.
