 big comeback predicted for mercedes-benz

since mercedes has a new ceo, i believe that brand will stage a major rebound over the next 3 years. we all know about the quality problems that have plagued them. also, some of the products remain a "dud". for example the suv the ml class is wanting compared to the x5 and even makes like the volvo xc90. that said, i believe daimler is not going to allow that storied brand to simply slip off into the sunset. by 2010 mercedes will be back and they will be back hard. you heard it here first!

by the lack of open-mindedness reflected on this site. when i first joined, i said something that offended some and i will say it again. there is something analagous about this bimmerfest site to those single, middle aged men who fantasize about high-end audio equipment. reading all the latest gear magazines always comparing higher and higher end gear. and the common thread is that the equipments i never "good enough". it is ludicrous to box oneself into think that ANYTHING is IT. whether that is a bmw or a pice of stereo equipment. ever heard of an open mind? try it, it might expand your horizens!

I think Chuck's rolling heads were for the corporate culture that Mercedes has nurtured for itself, which will take a lot more than 1 year or 2 to deal with (the 2010 models are being planned now). Take a look at the mess that continues to plague GM. It brought Bob Lutz on what, five years ago? (a former VP of BMW, I might add, in the early 1970s), and he still hasn't been able to do more than put on a few band aids.

What he said.

I am all for companies surviving, thriving, and building great cars. But car companies are like aircraft carriers, they do not turn on a dime. If MB started today with an agressive turn around plan, it would take 5-10 years minimum.
