 X3 Trip Report

Well, it's sad to say that I'm already suffering from ED withdrawal. We picked up the X3 on November 3rd and dropped it off in Munich on November 9th. A short vacation but one of the best.

DAY 1:
Our flight got in around 10 am and even though I had gotten ~3 hours of sleep I was pumped and ready to pick up the car. We went right to the delivery center and unfortunately there was no sign of the bimmerfest book. Not sure what happened, but oh well. Bernard did our delivery, and he was awesome. Very nice, funny, and thorough. The X3 with the sport package in the US is all "M" badged out which was a surprise since we ordered the car months ago without seeing what we ordered. AWESEOME! The car had 3 miles on it.

We went to LeMeridian and got a much needed shower and then headed off to the BMW factory for a tour. Great! We got to see everything and it was a real treat, highly recommended.

Headed back into town for some dinner. Had some tasty sausages and beer! After a few I was even able to convince my husband to ride one of the lions!

More to follow.....

....and yes, that's the cruise control at 100MPH!

That´s funny. My car had 3 miles on it at delivery also. Consistency is good.

Now it has 2247 km on it. And I still have ca. 180 km back to München tomorrow.

It´s hard to get a good night´s sleep on planes. I think I got 5 hours, and that was probably ONLY due to the fact that we departed 2 hours late, so I was really ready to sleep. Oh, and the FlyNet wasn´t working in the plane so I couldn´t play on line.

The waiter at the café handed me the book when I got there and asked, and I also had the other B´festers (rich and ashish) sign. Odd that they couldn´t locate it a week prior. Perhaps we can ask the next person to sign you in anyway!

The car looks great. It will be back soon. And to think, you have an AUSTRIAN car. That is unique.

"M" badged X3? We need more photos of the car and details of your ED trip soon. Mr Bernards is indeed funny and very nice person!

Yup, the US version of the X3 with the sport package has M badging. Looks cool. I didn't get too many shots of it though. The badges are on the wheels, the floor of the driver/passenger, the wheel (with the cool thumb rests,) and shifter....that's what I remember at least.

Day 2
Not much exciting here. We walked around Munich and took a ton of photos of the lions. It was interesting for me since I've seen the Cow Parade in New York and there was a local project in Doylestown, PA with donkeys. Anyhow, I thought it was cool. We also went into the toy store Obletter since we're board game geeks.

Day 3
We went and picked up a rental, Mercedes CLK to take to the Nurberg ring. We drove to Rudeshime and stayed in a hunting castle, that's the shot that I used for my avatar. We also checked out the Nederwald monument.

Day 4
The Nurberg ring- it should be illegal - nuff said.

Day 5&6
Rotenburg, lovely as usual. Nightwatchman's tour, schneeballen, Zur Holl. Lot's of great car shots, but they are all on film that's being developed.

Day 7
Flight back to Philly. ~1 hour of sleep, dreaming about redelivery.

Total miles: 856
Top speed: 110mph
