I'm thinking about Berchtesgaden -- Dürnstein and back (I´ll try to plot a circular route. Have to look carefully at the map as to what B roads go south or southwest.

I assume you mean Durnstein in Steiermark. I would never pass up a chance to visit Hallstatt, perhaps the most picturesque town I know - but being Austrian, you probably already knew that. I also drove the Post Alm road (between Strobl and Golling) in August - wonderful pass if the weather's good.

Dürnstein is in Niederösterreich, but I will be driving south into Steiermark on the way back to Berchtesgaden.
Just came back from a tour of the resort - not sure I want to leave, but there is a neuer BMW right before the hotel waiting for me.
