650I dropped off... sob....now must wait

Dropped off my 650I convertible in Garching(Munich) at EH Harms. Ran into Calvin (330XI) at the same time.

Gerd Behrends kof EHH was incredibly nice and helpful. Removed my front license plate and verified that I had removed the first aid kit, the emergency triangle, and retrieved my NAV disk.

Called a taxi for us. Paperwork took about 10 minutes. Car will go to Bremerhaven on Monday arriving Tuesday. Thereafter, officially 6-8 weeks before I receive the car.

Gerd was quite humorous as I pulled in. He said that I was a "gentlemen and a scholar" for delivering to him a 650I for his weekend! Just a joke.... But, my mileage of 585 has been noted. We'll see what I have on the car when I get it in California. Lots of 3's and 5's lined up for shipping. No 7's or other 6's.

I drove from Nurnberg to Munich today. Many roadworks. I drove at 120mph much of the way (4500 rpm breakin limit). Then being pushed by an Audi and realizing I wouldn't have the chance again I went up to 145+ for a moment. This was effortless and there was no indication of strain whatsoever on the car so I don't feel bad about it. Without a limiter I suspect a 650 could pull 170 or so pretty easily. Car is rock stable and just continues to accelerate with seemingly no limit. I'll never see this again in California, unless I want incarceration.

Got passed by a 911 Turbo doing about 160+.

Anyway back to the States tomorrow and begin the long wait.

Really nice car and great pictures. Good to hear that folks at Harms are very friendly and helpful.

Cheers-
