It seems they are burning hundreds of cars every night in France. I hope there is no exclusion in the insurance for civil unrest. Nice timing. I'm sure my brand new car will just blend in and they will choose to burn someone else's. Maybe I should turn it in earlier than planned (I do fly back from Paris). |

If you go, I would recommend trying not to look or sound American (I'm so glad I'm Austrian ) . If that's not possible, I would choose another destination.

if u cannot change not going to Paris - make sure u are parked in a secure underground parking at the hotel (and use the underground for travelling within Paris)

We're in the same boat!
Picking up car on Nov 21. Supposed to drop off in Paris on Nov 25 and spend the weekend and fly home Monday Nov 28.
I can't change my flights without spending a lot of money. At this point , if things don't seriously calm down, we are going to spend an extra 3 days in Germany (I have family in Heidelberg) and just drive to Paris, drop off the car and fly out on Monday. Paris is only 4 - 5 hours fron Heidelberg and the dropoff is right at the airport - so this is not a terrible option. We're just kind of nervous as we are travelling with our 7 and 9 year old kids.
Seems we are destined not to go to Paris. Last time we had to cancel our Paris trip as it was supposed to be 2 weeks after Sept 11, 2001.
Oh well.....I guess I'll just have to suffer through 3 extra days of driving my new car around Germany!!

The Tourist warnings about the trains that go to the airport were just the tip of the iceberg.

This is a special circumstance where the airline would probably allow you to change your return flight. I guess it all depends on when you are travelling.
