Blackberry, email, and costs in Europe

My wife has a T-Mobile blackberry. She isn't worried about making and receiving calls, but is very concerned about email. Will it work the same in Munich and Paris (can she send and receive)? Anyone know what it is going to cost? Thanks.

If she has internet access she can access e-mail. That is how I check my personal and company mail. Your personal e-mail can be set up via your T-Mobile account page so you can log into it directly. Our corporate e-mail is web viewable in text form, so I access it through a webpage address. When I respond nobody is aware that I used my phone to do that.

T-Mobile just introduced a GPRS plan for euro. roaming at a favorable monthly rate.

And yes, it will work the same.

I have a t-mobile Blackberry. I used it all through Europe on my ED trip. MAKE SURE you call them to tell them you are traveling to Europe before you go; they need to do an additional credit check (sometimes), and they need to flip some sort of magic switch that allows you to use your phone/device there. The phone works phenomenally well there; better than it does for me in L.A. As you go from one country to next, the phone gets a text message announcing the new telecom company, and providing important numbers that you may need.

It is one dollar per minute in virtually every western European country to either place or receive a call. Email is either free, or there may be an incidental charge; if there is a charge, it is minimal. Internet access is charged, but you are much better off getting online at a hotel or cafe for high speed access; I did use it in a pinch, and it worked just as it does stateside.

Call them and they will give you all the details.
