  what to do?

 what to do?



Ok, need some advice real quick.

Im leaving to Munich on the morning of the 5th.

A couple days ago I lost/forgot my ATM card at the bank and it got shredded. So I called my bank and asked them to issue me a new one and was told they could "fastcard" it overnight.

Well I called again after not receiving it yesterday or today and was told they sent it out but NOT overnight...DOH!

And since I called after 12pm est, they can't garauntee that I get it before I leave on SAT.

So... I really don't want to do cash advances while there and travelers checks are a pain.
I can do POS transactions on my CC (with a 3% charge)

What can I do besides carry US cash and convert it there?

Any advice ?

CC company said I cant overpay my cards and use it as an ATM.

I know, I know I suck!

what are my options?

Take cash and pay using cr card wherever possible. I've gone thru trips in Germany and not used more than EUR 50,- in cash.

I never used my ATM during my ED. I brought $500 in cash and credit cards and traveled through Germany and Switzerland through 6 day travel. I always asked the services, retail, restaurants whether they took credit cards when I walked in. I did not use all of the cash I brought.

On a trip to Canada recently (I know, not Europe but may be similar), I simply used our VISA card wherever possible. I also made one stop to an ATM and pulled out 400 CDN. That cost me $2.50 to get ($1.50 from the ATM bank and $1 from my bank). For $349.94, I got 400 CDN for an exchange rate of 0.87. The date of transaction was on 9/5 and the exchange rate that day was 0.84 so I paid 3%. As a comparison, I paid 1% for my VISA charges. Take some $$$s and convert them either here or in Europe.
