-Which months are reliably snow-free near Munich, Salzburg, etc? -Which months are reliably snow-free with roads open in nearby mountain passes?

Second if you were to order a car for ED it would need to be 2 months in advance of pickup and the availibility of a production slot. December and January include some times when the factories and the Delivery Center are closed, which affects all that. From what I gather November - April are snowy in most of the area, especially the higher altitudes. The easiest way to figure that info out would be a weather site and see the yearly averages for a particular location and date. Best of luck!

I wouldn't be so sure about that snow free April. I was in Garmish for a week at the beginning of April back in '03 and we saw several inches of snow every day.
Now, it wasn't that big of a deal. The roads were plowed pretty quickly, and the autobahns in both Germany and Austria were always well kept and never saw any ice or snow. Some of the smaller two lane B-roads were snow packed at times.
