You can pick up new ones from this site. In addition to standard ones, they also offer the German Export/ZOLL plate. In addition, can even specify the expiration date.

My rear plate was removed at the VPC and placed in the trunk.

I took my front one with me and got the rear from the dealer when it was redelivered... the front is back on and I am tempted to put the rear on and keep the NY plate in the rear window... but with my luck I would get pulled over and cuffed!!
