Greetings from Mainz Hyatt, The temp is 66 F

Just pulled into Mainz Hyatt by the Rhine River. We had a late start as I fell insomia and couldn't sleep until 6:00AM, and sure enough... My original plan of "..Let's take-off early Saturday morning and have Lunch at Burghspital Winery (Great Franconian Food, you must try!!) in Wurzburg, tunred into Diner at the Burgspital , What was the hang up?? I had to run over to get some Cub*ns for browny points and had swing by Marienplatz to buy some smokes. And if you never been to Marienplatz on a nice Saturday.... you must try it! Just a fantastic atmosphere that you makes you wish you were German Its the great food, great drinks, great weather and great people watching. Sorry... No pictures You had to be here to see for it yourself. Its not something those of you traveling in the winter months (Nove ~ March) will get to see

So we finally hit the road at around 3:00PM, and wouldn't you know it.... We got stuck in the construction traffic near Allianz Stadium (or is it dome?? ) So much for tryingto get to Wurzburg in 1 hr (167 miles away) for a late lunch

We finally pulled into Bergspital at 4:45 PM and I had to dump the wife off at the wine store to pick up some wines for the boss. They close at 5:00 PM and I couldn't fine a freaking parking spot in the 3 miles radius Being a non wine person, I just told her to ".. GET SOMETHING that LOOKS expensive in bottle but w/ a cheap price tag .."

Mission accomplish, looks pretty damn good to me

Also trying to figure out how to use the Laundrymat, made a quick stop for 1 hr and now we have enough clothing to finish the trip

Of course... after doing laundry and dinner... Its 8:00 PM and we are still 176 miles out to our destination of Nurburg.

Try to make time loss on the autobahn.Although traffic is light on Saturday evening, but trying to go balls out on the bahn at night w/ a small bit of drizzle for extended period of time is nerve wrecking After an hour I throw in the towl and went w/ plan B, I will spend the night in Mainz and make this the base and head out to the N'ring early in the morning (appx. 76 miles away), and go from there. This plan B is pretty DAMN costly at $200 a night kindda make the Marriott and Renassance at $65/$55 thru priceline chomp change

I got to hit the sack now, got a race course to conquer tomorrow I hope to see Alex Baumann and Jupeman there

cheers,

beewang

Sounds like you're having a great time. Traveling alone does have its advantages - ha I got a good 'long' look at Allianz too, sitting in the same construction traffic that was just crawling along. It's not a full dome btw, it's covered over the stands, but open over the field. Different looking for sure!

Looking forward to photos from the track...

The Allianz Stadium is incredible - it replaced the Olympic stadium recently.

It changes color based on who is playing.

Oh, and Bee, please post Celcius temperature! This Fahrenheit stuff is confusing. I'm in San Francisco right now (keynoting a conf. monday morning) and the temp. is 14°C.

Yes, That is what I've been told by Zauberhais during our dinner discussion at Paulaner Brauhaus.
