 Wi-Fi Availability

Trying to decide if it's worth bringing my laptop for a five day ED trip - would only use it for checking email for work and emailing pictures of car pickup to family.

Would I find free or inexpensive Wi-Fi readily available in and around cities?

I stayed at numerous hotels that had WIFI for free. Most charge the equivalent as the US. Also many coffee places and internet cafe's have wifi, some being free. I recommend the laptop just for the security of uploading your photos daily, so if anything happens to the camera (I assume digital) you will still have a copy of previously taken photos! Best of luck!

Don't forget to upload pictures for all of us to see

WiFi is pretty much available in all hotels I have been to on this trip.

Marriott Munich: 23 euros per 24 hrs
Munich Renassance by Marriott: 12.50 euros per 24 hrs
Hyatt Mainz: 17 euros per 24 hrs
Frankfurt a.M. Courtyard by Marriott: 12.50 euros per 24 hrs

I used to use my T-Mobile hot spot account in Sheraton properties. But I found out since September 2005, they are now surcharging $0.45 per minute. When I get back to home, I will call and scream at somebody What a bunch of crap!!

cheers,

beewang

Here's a listing of Munich Hotspots, some free:

You can find more free hotspots by running a search here:

If you have MS Mappoint Europe, I have built a map with the free hotspots listed.

Thanks, Everybody

Will probably end up at one of the free or inexpensive cafes. Will be staying at the Munich Mariott for one night but it would be hard to justify 23 Euros for maybe 20 minutes of checking and responding to mail

Brendan - I don't have MS Mappoint Europe, but from the list of sites you give I'm sure I'll find someplace convenient.
