This may be a stupid question but what exactly is ED for a US buyer? If someone lives in the US and plans on driving their car in the US why would they go for ED? And dont customs take more time to clear ED cars? Would appreciute any answers.

But essentially ED is european delivery of your US bought BMW for which BMW gives you approximately 7% discount on the invoice price. You get to drive your own car on autobahn without fear of getting caught for speeding.
Now that is the good part, the bad part is when you come back to US you have absolutely no idea where your car is and when are you going to get it in your possession. Except a lone letter that you get from BMWNA telling the dock date of the ship on which car is arriving at the US port, you are basically left waiting with your fingers crossed.

My salesman left the dealership so I did not have a close contact to track it to the dealership. Just a short e-mail to E.H. Harms (shipping agent) and they will give you your car's schedule to the USA.
