 Pickup 10/17: Itinerary feedback welcome



In a couple of days I will be heading to Munich with my wife to pick up my 2006 330i. Unfortunatly we had to scale back our trip from 2 weeks to 1 week. I am looking for some feedback on our planned trip.

Saturday 10/15: arrive Munich around 6pm, will try to get Marriot North for 2 or 3 nights
Sunday 10/16: spend full day in Munich
Monday 10/17: pick up car early in the morning, make some side trips to castles and perhaps Dachau, factory tour at 6pm
Tuesday 10/18: Drive to Salzburg in early morning, spend the day in Salzburg (Mozart museum, sound of music tour.(my wife's pick ), Salzburger Nockerl, etc)
Wednesday 10/19: Drive to Vienna, perhaps taking some side roads, arrive in afternoon
Thursday 10/20: Spend morning in Vienna, drive to Prague in afternoon
Friday 10/21: spend full day in Prague
Saturday 10/22: Drive to Holland (enjoying the autobahn) to visit family
Sunday 10/23: relax
Monday 10/24: drop off in Amsterdam

Any suggestions, must sees, etc. are very welcome. One particular question I have is if I should avoid staying again in the center of Munich after the factory tour. Would I run into major traffic if I want to head to Salzburg in the early morning?

Is the marriot North the same as Marriott Munich? I will be in Munich as well as I'm picking up my car on the 14th and leaving 17th!

I think that is the same hotel. I understand there are two Marriotts: one in the center and one at the airport.

wow...then we probably might bump into each other. I'm also staying at Marriott Munich, not the airport one.

I was just there recently and made the drive from Munich to Salzburg in the late afternoon. There was quite a delay due to traffic getting out of Munich, but once out of the Munich area, it cleared up nicely. The drive did take me longer than the mileage would indicate, so you should really try to get an early start. Do you have a hotel in Salzburg? I could make a couple of recommendations.

Hmm I thought about getting a hotel outside of Munich before heading out to Salzburg to avoid traffic but decided instead I didn't want to move hotels so I will be heading out of center of Munich on Tuesday morning. I am planning to hit the road by 6.30 or so, can I still expect to hit major traffic?
