Anyone done a light test while in Germany?

I was just curious if anyone has taken their ED car to a German BMW dealer to have the lights and signals checked. I did, once upon a time, to check the rear fog lights after I had de-neutered them.

The Licht-Test is free throughout October and nets you the following sticker:

Interesting. Are you saying there are rear fogs on your US spec car, just they were disabled somehow?

Yes, the important bits were there but disabled; they have to be working now.

I forgot to mention the sticker goes on and comes off easily as it is only has to last until the following October. You can take it off with water out of a plant sprayer, and a towel, whenever you feel the need or urge.

The police run light tests in November but wave you on your way if you have a current sticker as yours has already been checked. (I imagine the window of usefulness for this bit of information is becoming vanishling small for most of you.) Our Polizei divert one of the main streets into the sports stadium parking light and check everyone who comes through. I haven't experienced this myself, but no doubt will, the year I don't have a current sticker!

Not with an ED car, but I did with a leased Opel a few years ago. It seemed the lights were not aimed right (Or at least not what I was used to in the US). Well, they were correct and, yes, the Germans do aim them differently...a little lower and more to the right. I found that interesting.

I have the 320d done.

I can understand doing this if you live there, but on an ED vacation, I can't see subjecting myself to any time wasted for a sticker. I certainly wouldn't expect you to want to wait in line at the DC DMV inspection station on your next visit here.

If you'd like to, though, I'll let you take my car there for me!
