Are the floormats you get in Munich the same as the ones you'd get here in the U.S?
i'm hearing conflicting stories... some people say it's some kind of a vinyl/plastic floormats you get in europe instead of the 'regular' cloth ones you get here... while some people say they're the same? | | Reply » Are the floormats you get in Munich the same as the ones you'd get here in the U.S? | I think I take the crown on ED, so take it from me, it is the EXACT same ones that you buy here in the U.S.

| | Reply » Are the floormats you get in Munich the same as the ones you'd get here in the U.S? | Quote: Your dealer doesn't know what he's talking about. About a year ago, BMW implemented a new policy on ED. ALL cars (via Euro Delivery) now gets the free floormats.
It used to be (pre fall 2001) if your car model comes w/ sets of free floormats (i.e the 5 series), you still won't get the floor mats until the car arrive stateside.
Nowadays not only they'll give you your floor mats in Munich, They even give it to you even if your car (i.e. the series) doesn't come w/ floor mats.
Hope this helps,

The ED floormats are carpet, but they're thinner and the driver's mat doesn't have the letters BMW stitched on it-- or the heal re-inforcement that's on the regular pads. Its fine w/ me-- i'm happy that they toss in floor mats-- cheap ones are better than none at all.
I wonder if BMW's policy has something to do w/ it making it easier to clean the cars for customs purposes-- I think when they started including the floor mats Mad cow disease was at the fore-front of everyone's mind.

My dealer said they would provide free replacement USA mats if the ED models were stolen in transit. My first aid kit and the styrofoam block for the hardtop disappeared, but the mats arrived in ED Muenchen condition.
