Salzburg food, beer (have my own women)

In any city, I always look for an off beaten path restaurant with some local flavor and some local clientel. Any recommendations for Salzburg?

Thanks!

It's not off the beaten path, but I highly recommend the main restaurant at the Hotel Goldener Hirsch.

As previously posted, don't leave without having Salzburger Nockerl for dessert.

Agreed on the restaurant. If you don't mind an expensive meal, definitely one worth having.

We also had dinner at a place called Stadtkrug, which is not in the old town, but rather across the main bridge and up the hill a little bit. Not as expensive, served local fare, and very good as well.

You've GOT to find the "friendly ape" restaurant/pub!! That's a crappy English translation of the real name, obviously. I just looked it up, and it is "at the faithful ape": Zum Fidelen Affen.

Priesterhausgrasse 8. It's across the river from the old town where the Mozart places are. A short walk from the main bridge. I did a quick map on viamichelen.com.

This place had excellent food and bier. One of the highlights of the trip.

For drinks, we did this rooftop bar in a hotel right at the main bridge, also on the "new side" of the river. I believe it is Hotel Stein. Great night view of old Salzburg.

FYI, many areas of Salzburg are pedestrian only, and I can't remember if this area was or not.

You wrote "have my own women".
Care to elaborate?

That would imply he has more than one woman!

For informal business reasons, of course!
